DISCWORLD

Ankh – Morpork

Ankh-Morpork is the capital of Discworld a city that features in a series of fantasy novels by Terry Pratchett.

The coat of arms features on many of the Discworld stamps.

Ankh is the name of the river that divides the city in two. The Morpork is the breed of owl at the top of the shield.

Presumably Terry Pratchett’s fictional owl is a distant cousin of the New Zealand Morepork.

We collect postmarks and stamps that feature the word owl in English or another language e.g. Ruru in Maori or Eulen in German.

As such we think it’s appropriate to feature stamps that have the word Morpork on them.
